The Salesian College Astronomy Club for Year 8 meets Tuesdays at 12.45 in Physics3!

The Moon - image taken by a job submitted by Mr. Campbell using the Bradford Robotic Telescope (6/9/2006) M16 Eagle Nebula - image one of the "best of" images taken using the Faulkes Telescope.
M27 Dumbbell Nebula - image taken by a job submitted by Nick Dewey (UVI) using the Bradford Robotic Telescope (8/10/2006) M77 Cetus-A Galaxy - image taken by the UVI Physics group using the Faulkes Telescope (12/10/2006)

Fascinated by space?  Amazed by the stars?  Then the @stro.club is for you!

The club will meet regularly to use robotic telescopes over the Internet to acquire images of The Moon, planets in the Solar System, stars, galaxies and nebulae.  You will learn how to use Starry Night - a planetarium software package to plan observations, and image processing software to improve your images.  You will also build a web page of your observations and projects, which will ultimately be displayed on this website.

@stro.club has access to 3 robotic telescopes.  Initially we will use the Bradford Robotic Telescope based in the Canary Islands.  We will also have access to the Faulkes Telescope Project  - "real-time" robotic telescopes based in Hawaii and Australia.

The Salesian College Astronomy Club is for Year 8 and meets Tuedays at 12.45 in Physics3.  See Mr. Campbell for more information!
